Aluminium flat bars are often used in general fabrication, for internal fixtures as well as for frame building and for machining parts. It’s high strength and excellent corrosion resistance make it easy to machine, weld, cut and drill.

It is ideally suited for outdoor use due to its corrosion resistance. If not anodised, aluminium will often oxidise when used outdoor, but this oxidation actually strengthens the surface of the material.

Is Aluminium Flat Bar Strong?

Aluminium is roughly 1/3 of the weight of steel, so it has a huge advantage of reducing the weight for applications as thicker parts can be used with a lower overall material weight. Ultimately aluminium can be matched pound for pound to steel, if not stronger in some instances. This does depend on the alloy and processing technique used but proves aluminium’s overall strength is high.
