Detailed Cost Breakdown
For a 'ballpark' estimate, consider each of these factors separately. First, choose a style – 'Rigid Frame' or 'Quonset Hut' style. Both are precision-engineered buildings manufactured to exceed your local code requirements and come in easy to assemble kit form.
Materials, Accessories & Delivery Costs:
Rigid Frame Kit:
The building kit Material cost for a 40x60 (2,400 square foot) rigid frame building cost from $10 per square foot, giving a price of $24,000. Add the delivery charge of approx. $1,200. Consider the accessories (doors, windows etc.) necessary for your application and include $2,600. Giving you a delivered cost of approx. $27,800. Now you have the building at your site and you're all set to erect your 40x60 metal building.
40x60 Concrete Slab Cost:
If you are not building on an existing foundation, you will need to pour a concrete slab for your new building. You should estimate approx. $5-10 per sq ft ($12,000 to $24,000) for the installation of a 6" concrete foundation. Please see the following page for more on foundations.
Construction Costs:
Finally, you will also need to account for labor costs to build the structure. Installing it using the manufacturer’s directions may be simple, but be sure to have plenty of help for a building of this size. Some form of lifting equipment will also be required to off-load the building and raise the members into place.
